Hi,
I have always been into backing up my photos, 1000's of them going back years, plus other bits & pieces.
I have just proved the old saying about "more haste less speed" and fried my USB hub & 2 external HDD's by connecting a 12V external power supply to the hub instead of the practically identical (wall wart) 5V supply whilst distracted.
Very expensive, but I do have a 3rd HDD with all my photos on it still safe, so not a total disaster.
This has made me consider my future backup strategy. Other than cloud, what are my options?
I like the idea of 2 USB 3.0 HDDs in a single enclosure, with an on/off switch, permanently plugged in both to power & USB - so no more mistakes as above. The drives should each have all the data present, and the backup should be a simple process - Is that RAID 1? Can I do that? Is it a good solution? What hardware & software do I need?
TIA.
