Basically, Intel v AMD (and a better GPU)

Okay, so I'm contemplating two different systems here. One uses an Intel processor but doesn't have a great graphics card. (Budget restrictions.) The other has a better GPU but is an AMD CPU; will there be a huge difference in terms of gaming?

If you're on a budget, AMD hands down. In a real world situation (like just generally using a pc) you'll never notice the difference. Only when you get to benchmarking and figures will you see the difference. Definitely go with the AMD, you'll get a lot more for your money :).

I agree with MrShteeeeve, go for the one with the better GPU, it will make more of a difference for games than the CPU change

AMD, and i would recommend getting the cheap cooler just incase you dont want anything to happen do you? its only £19.. and you lucky ******* for living in the channel islands, i would be able to get such a good PC if i had no VAT

i would also remove the anti virus trial its useless and will just leave files everywhere once uninstalled
i always use this free setup whenever setting up a PC
AVG Free
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (A MUST HAVE)
Ad-Aware
Spybot Search & Destroy

that will give you an extra £30 if you were planning on buying crappy norton or McAcrap, overall my protection will beat norton hands down on everything from performance to protection

and for wireless i highly recommend you getting the PCI-E card, the difference is worth it, you will get more snappy performance when loading pages, a second is not a quick enough test any more, you need the first 1/10

I would usually say intel as they offer better performance but in a mainly gaming PC to a budget restriction like with yours and with that GPU difference, I'm gunna have to agree with the others and say the AMD as they offer good performance whilst being cheap, whilst Intel is high preformance with a hefty price tag.
