Battery life on 17.3" Vortex IV?

I've just ordered the Vortex IV 17.3" (with GTX 880m, i7 4700, 240gb Kingston SSD, 1TB HDD) and was wondering what kind of battery life users of a similar setup are seeing whilst gaming / idle? Was mainly curious as the 800m series comes with the "battery Boost" technology, and it'll be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes!

Not sure exactly, but gaming will be fairly short lived - probably to the point I wouldn't even consider it. GPU's like to be plugged into the wall anyway, batteries often can't provide the juice and they slow down making gaming a pointless IMO.

As far as total battery life on lower intensity, I can only go from my brothers laptop. its an i7, 675m and a HDD. He doesn't use the battery much but says it will do about 2-2.5 hours if your not doing anything much more than reading webpages or word processing. But that said he is using a different chassis with a different generation of GPU and CPU....

Yea, I figure if I could get a couple of hours of gaming out of that beast I'd be doing well :p I'm in the navy and finding a power socket onboard can be a pain sometimes! The 880m is supposed to be fairly power efficient, when the laptop arrives I'll let you know how it performs :)

yeah the 880m may be power efficient but its still a top end mobile GPU so it will still be power hungry.

let us know how you get on.
