Hi,

Im getting massive problems with playing BF3 in that im seeing big triangular black shapes flickering all over the screen. Its not happened to me on any other game, but im getting it really bad here. Im starting to worry it might be my card as an old one went the same way.

I havnt had the PC long, but am i worrying about nothing?

I have installed the latest drivers for BF3 (285.62) and ive tried uninstalling/reinstalling them again but im getting the same problem.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks

i agree with tom i havent seen any artifacts so as he said try lower your graphics does this seem to occur on auto set graphics within battlefield 3.

I did get the yellow flickering from the beta agin on the main game, only on one game though on one map (dont knwo what map lol) but only flickered twice. No actual artifacting like that though. As tom said id try lowering the graphics settings see if that helps at all. possibly also enable Vsync.

Lowering the graphics doesnt help unfortunatly. But looking at the forums on battle log, there seems to be a lot of people having similar problems. Its driving me crazy and it only happens on 3 maps ... caspian, canals and firestorm. This happened on the beta drivers too for me on caspian.

I think what you are finding is the game is new, and the fact that the gpu manufacturers are trying to get the best performance on this game through drivers which are slightly out still in some regards. I have absolutely no problems with the game aside from the fact that msaa takes up far too much of a performance hit. As usual. From what mates have said; and I have read, the BF3 beta drivers for the Nvidia 5 series are still the best for BF3; but none of them should be causing artifacting. If it is just on this game then that tells me/you something.

Try going to Nvidia control panel and setting Physics processing to the CPU (from Auto select). Watching a friend play on the same card you have with those latest drivers, I saw much worse performance on the 560ti, and some graphical glitches; which I dont have on my rig (Powercolor 6950 2gb unlocked) and we both agreed that in our case it seems to run better on my ATI/AMD card; strange, performance should be more or less equal on these cards. The card itself is a great card, most games he has run at nearly exactly the same fps or slightly more than my card did stock so have no fears there.

I have spoken to him today for your benefit as he was seeing some strange glitching too and he determined that turning off msaa; and setting Physics to cpu solved his issues nearly entirely. For me the game runs great how it is but I would expect some people to have problems and for those a patch is still needed. Artifacting ususally is a sign of corrupt drivers or more usually a failing gpu but in this case I think we should make an exception. I would make a point of trying lots of other games and stressing the card in both dx10/11 to see if there are any other issues on anything else, if not, you need a patch for the game; or some better drivers, but there is some ideas to try in this post. Personally; I think Nvidias drivers need some sorting out. :) The main thing is if it is happening in no other games, you can be assured it is the game; there are a lot of posts on the internet about the 560ti and artifacting in bf3 only....

Thanks for taking the time to provide that info and talk to your friend, much appreciated. So far it is only BF3 which this happens on, and after reading many posts of similar experiances on my graphics card, i think its a case of wait and see. Ive turned off a few settings (AA def/post, Ambient Occlusion, motion blur) and it seems to be playing ok like that for now, but im still hoping for a fix in order to crank the settings up a bit more in the future.

I will try setting the physics processing to the CPU and see what happens there :)
