Got the pc through today and The Windows 7 was messed up, phoned PCS and they said it is a common thing and to re install Windows 7 which I did an all seems well now. However I get one single short beep when I start up People have said this is normal and everything is ok...is this the case?

Yeah typically you get one beep when starting up a PC. Its when that beep changes you've got to pay attention!

Glad you've managed to sort everything ok :)

Aye one beep is standard for a PC starting. You'll not fix a software problem with a hammer :)

Looking forward to the pics bud!

Its not that it gets messed up during testing / QC - PCS essentially set the PC back to factory settings with your copy of Windows (unactivated). I would imagine it is this process that sometimes causes issues with new PC's rather than the testing / QC process itself.

The last thing PCS install on your machine after testing/QC is SysPrep, it gives you an 'out-of-the-box experience', but there is no way of testing it since its a run-once thing, once its run once it will never run again, its the bit of Windows install that you see when you start up the PC, ie, naming the PC, sorting out user accounts etc.

And occassionally SysPrep doesn't quite work as planned :( and a reinstall is needed to recover.

I did wonder what they did exactly :) Every day is a school day :)
