Beeps on boot

Hi,

I recently received my new pc from pc specialist and I have some queries regarding the bios beeps when you boot the system up.

My understanding is that a normal properly functioning beep is just a single beep, my system beeps quickly four or or 5 times (it's so fast it's hard to tell exactly how many) followed by a gap, then the single beep you would expect.

The mother board is a Gigabyte X570 GAMING X: ATX (USB 3.2 Gen 1, PCIe 4.0) - ARGB Ready.

I've tried to look for bios fault codes but haven't found anything concrete.

Any ideas? I have an mp4 file of the beep if it would help and there's anyway I can add it to the forum.

Can you post your FULL spec from the order please?

If you're hearing one longer beep followed by three shorter ones then either there's a problem with the graphics card or the RAM.

Remove the graphics card and reseat it fully. Then remove the RAM sticks and reseat those fully. See whether that helps.

Note:be sure to ground yourself or wear an ESD strap before touching anything inside.

Hi nurse, I found this list before (infact I think it was yourself that listed it)

But my specific beep doesn't appear to be on the list? 4 or 5 short beeps followed by a normal beep. And then it seems to run ok, (experiencing a lot of crashes but maybe due to the new graphics cards not having the best drivers yet?)

I'm going to guess its one long and three short which seems to be fairly common at the moment. Try turning on your monitors before booting and see if it still happens.

Yup pc still boots and mostly seems to work ok, games crash a lot though, things don't feel quite as fluid as I thought they would be just in windows, sometimes it won't open applications like gpu tweak (I used a different profile that was less load on the gpu to try and help with the crashes) and what not. Can't exactly put my finger on it and it seems to be different programs that sometimes don't play ball.

It is entirely possible it is monitor related as @steaky360 suggested...it is quite common for slightly older monitors (and some newer ones) to cause the system issues if it is not turned on before the PC itself....have seen plenty where the computer beeps then loads normally. Try as posted and turn the monitor on first and then power on the system and see if that stops it

Monitor on first gives the same results, just tried that

You need to be clear on what beeps you're hearing. Saying 'maybe four or five' isn't helpful.

Just to confirm, it's 4-5 very fast beeps followed by one beep (this beep being what id normally expect to hear turning a pc on)

I understand that, but the beeps are fast it's difficult to tell exactly how many there are.

I've never heard a bios beep other than the normal single beep before, so I don't exactly know what I'm listening for

Thats four short beeps, then the single 'post' beep (or certainly thats what it sounds like to me)

Realtime clock error apparently from the gigabyte list

Wondering if simply removing the CMOS battery, waiting for 30 seconds then replacing it would do the trick or if it needs a whole new CMOS?

I'll be honest mate my level of understanding is virtually 0 when it comes to this stuff, don't even know what a CMOS battery is let alone where to find one or remove it.

Is it strange that the beeps say it's that fault but the pc always displays the correct time etc??
