Berserker Wi-Fi Problems

right I need to pick a few brains, probably @ubuysa & @SpyderTracks

Last night I was having problems with the wifi on the Berserker in that it was dropping in and out/very slow so tonight I decided to some comparisons between the Berserker and the laptop in the same room.

When I first looked at the properties for the network on The Berserker it was running on the 2.4 GHz band, so I forced it to 5GHz as that's what the laptop is running on, settings and test results on screenshots below:

Hello and good evening sir!

Firstly, in device manager, could you right click on that PCI Device that's got the exclamation mark, go to properties and then go on the device tab and scroll down to hardware id's and post what's on that?

Interestingly, that card (according to the manufacturers website) uses a Mediatek MT7921 chipset, it's odd that it's got a Realtek driver, but ignore that for now.

https://www.szedup.com/product-item...5-2-network-card-with-6dbi-dual-band-antenna/ (scroll down past the specification text and it's the middle graphic that shows the chipset)

I came across this article on reddit, worth a try. Just try disabling bluetooth if it's on, see if that improves performance?

Tried disabling bluetooth, no joy
So that unknown device is the USB C controller, worth getting that sorted while you're at it, is that the USB C on the GPU (can't remember what model you had)

With regards to the bluetooth, just to confirm, did you disable it in device manager? Sorry I wasn't too clear, may be worth trying that first.

GPU is 2070 Super, so I'll sort the USB C, I turned the Bluetoth off in settings, will disable in device manager

Just worth trying that disabling in dev manager first

I have come across another setting that may be worth trying, although this is for an Intel card, so no idea if yours will even have this, but worth a look

"I came across this post while dealing with the same issue. I have an AX210 that was fast when I first installed it, but now only gets around 100MB down.

I fixed it by going to the adapter in the device manager, clicking on properties, then the advanced tab. In the list there is a setting called "MIMO Power Save Mode", I changed this to "No SMPS". After that the adapter disconnected and reconnected to my network and I had my full speed once again.

My understanding is that this setting was turning off some of the antennas to save power, thus crippling the speed."

Will have look at that, got latest GPU driver downloading at minute, so once that's done I'll, try this

The other thing I just thought of which I always forget, but check if there are any cables near the wifi antenna, and just try moving them aside as a test. It's usually limited to power cables, they can cause quite a bit of EM noise that can disrupt the wifi signals.

Unlikely but worth a shot.

Yeah I'll have to sort him good and proper, he a well dodgy geezer

Hope you are all good
Meh, there’s still a lot of bad juju going on in my life, hence my continued sporadic appearances at the moment. But I’m still around and I love you like the brother I never wanted.

Hope to be back and more useful in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed that the hive mind gets your connectivity sorted soon 👍👍👍

Lots of love going to you and your family.

You're the only other person I've heard use "juju" other than a friend of mine, it's a killer word!

Bad juju is the worst kind of voodoo, it makes you feel poopoo (try not to sniff glueglue)

I’ll be reet, as you lads know I’ve just had a really thorough and brutal kicking from real life over the past few months. There’s been multiple deaths, a very near death of my baby boy, and a whole lot of other stress. I would also like to publicly thank you crazy kids for being around to vent on in DMs.

But my crapbag of a life isn’t getting our boy Martin’s WiFi sorted… AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!

Ummm...is this still a problem? Can you please open the Reliability Monitor by entering the command perfmon /rel in the Run command box. Post a screenshot of that please.

BTW. AFAIK you only need the Nvidia USB-C driver if you have a USB-C connected monitor.

And as for all the bro' back-slapping, all I have to say is this; I don't know half of you half as well as I should like and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. 🤭
