Big budget PC builders...assemble to my build!

So I recently made a post that I'd be wanting to upgrade to a 3090 at some point and was advised to go for the 3080 instead, which is fine by me. I'd also need to upgrade my PSU and also my case for better airflow, which is fine.
HOWEVER, today I've received a very pretty looking email from my job offering quite a big amount towards a new PC. I'm kind of thinking they have either given me a wrong amount and they're soon going to send a correction email, or they're wanting me to actually get something...good. I'm going to double-check with them just in case.

So from here, I've decided my build from 10 months ago is finally going to go to a new owner. My friend is wanting to get into PC gaming as they're on a poor PS4 on its last legs, so I'll be getting £1000 from this current build I'll be selling to them (very generous recognising the high prices these days). I'll be contributing £1000 of my own so I'm looking for a build of a maximum of £4500 with what work has added on. Now...you PC nerds that know a lot more about PC's than me, please build me the most pretty, RGB (if possible) computer, but also powerful machine that you can build me!

Uses
• Running multiple virtual machines (3 at once at the very maximum)
• Having essentially the entirety of Microsoft Office running at once, i.e. Outlook, minimum of two Word's, minimum of two Excel's, Powerpoint, Flow, Access and Publisher
• Creating graphics on Photoshop, however, nothing demanding, just need something to carry this out successfully
• Sometimes video editing, will be using Sony Vegas for this
• I will also using this as a personal PC too, so I will be using this for gaming with lots of peripherals (so I need lots of USB ports if possible!), my main game would be MSFS and I am also looking at Cyberpunk 2077 (can't get myself to buy it just yet).

My peripherals (so far)
Monitor 1: ASUS TUF GAMING VG27WQ 27" 2560x1440 VA 165Hz 1ms FreeSync HDR400
Monitor 2: LG UHD 27UL550 27 Inch Monitor - UHD 4K 3840x2160 UHD 4K, HR

Recently spoken to @SpyderTracks about this and may be upgrading to the G9 Odyssey, HOWEVER, may not be anytime soon after buying this just yet. Maybe give it a few months :)

FYI's
• I have my own Windows key, so that's not a problem
• I can stretch an extra £100 if it's REALLY needed, however, at this price I don't think any stretching would be needed
• I've seen the 3090 may have a quicker build time due to the queue size compared to the 3080. I'm personally not sure if a 3090 would be suitable for my needs with work and also the gaming I'll be doing on the future Odyssey I'll be going for, but correct me if I'm wrong
• I'll be needing quite a bit of storage, say 4TB at max? If the budget can fit it then stick it in!
• I'd personally prefer an NVIDIA graphics card over AMD, but please explain why if you decide to go with an AMD card 😅

Long thread post, I know, I have no idea where to start with this sort of budget and for my needs, so feel free to educate me on the way when you post the build specs :) Any questions just ask!

MAX BUDGET: £4500

I can't make a £4500 build that I think is a sensible use of money. Here's one that is £3800 that is as much as I feel is worthwhile. The only sensible upgrades would be if you were doing a lot of 4K video production, in which case the CPU, motherboard and RAM could all be upgraded for an extra £350ish.

Anything cheaper than £4500 is a win, if it saves money! I'm looking at the CROSSHAIR VIII HERO WIFI due to the extra USB slots on here - would it be worth swapping this out?

With a £4500 budget you can build practically anything.

Did I just imagine it or is the 3090 £700 more than a 3080?

This sure would be a monster! 🤯 I've set £4500 as my budget, just so there *hopefully* really isn't holdback on anything - anything cheaper would be a win :) Do we happen to know what brand of 3090 it would be? Would getting the extra case fans also be worth it?

@sibun1 that is entirely correct, and a little bit ridiculous.

I think you've adjusted my build for just a little more storage luxury? It's really gilding the lily, I think: I'd only want two 980s if I was trying to max out the budget! I don't think it would have any discernible performance gain. As for the third SSD, I know there are divided opinions on the forum: I think it's ok if there is a proper backup system in place...

Basically yeah :D
For a build actually budget concious and aimed at his uses, even going premium with stuff, you'd probably be looking at £3500 ish
Have to say i'm not convinced a 3090 is really needed.

@TomBerry I would recommend the 3080ti rather than the 3090 or 3080, it would be the best price / performance option for your budget.

It's not been released yet but is due to be soon.

I can wait for the 3080Ti, got a while to be thinking about it yet :) would you say everything else seems reasonable?

Edit: Would it be even more worth it going for the ASUS version or just keep it at the basic version when released?

No @MrWilson or @AgentCooper input yet..........
Waiting for it too ;)

I think the fundamentals of the builds above are solid, so there's not a lot to add. I was going to suggest waiting for the 3080Ti, but @SpyderTracks has just beaten me to it. And I'd also go for a 4TB Corsair M.2, as opposed to the 2TB Samsung/Seagate option... although I think that may be out of stock at the moment.

Would the cooling be fine as it is or should I add more fans onto it? If the 3080Ti is rumoured to come out around the end of May then I have plenty of time for adjustments, so no rush!

The latest leaks (so take with pinch of salt) are that it will be officially announced on May 18th with possible release date of 26th May

I would fully endorse any of the above systems. These guys know how to build.

No extra fans will be necessary, it'd be a purely aesthetic token. Saying that, I'd personally an extra single LL120 and replace the rear case fan myself....

I thought the 680X case came with a rear fan already?

While there are a few of you here, what about the 500D SE? I know the configurator blocks it but it can fit a H150i in the front... a fan reshuffle and you're good to go. I reckon PCS would do it if you spoke to them.

Any clues on retail price for the 3080 Ti? (and I dont suppose anyone has seen whispers of a 3070 Ti or similar?)

Unless it's changed in the recent re-stock, the 680X from PCS always came with the three LL120s in the front and a single, non-RGB Corsair fan in the back. I've just had a look at the pics on the configurator... and I can't see the distinctive LL ring around the fan edges...

Agreed: that's the only reason I didn't spec it. And the 3080Ti probably is a good bet – but I'd want to make sure I ordered it the second it became available...

This would be my personal choice.

Case: 5000D Airflow... it needs no introduction, extremely high performance and can top mount the H150i.

CPU: £150 more for the 5950X, but if you are going Hero anyway... makes sense to me, but depends entirely on workload.

SSDs: i haven’t added it as it isn’t something i am knowledgeable on... but you may need/want a cache drive. Also, i’m not sure you’ll gain that much from the secondary 980 pro, to justify its cost over a corsair one.

GPU: i agree... move it to the 3080ti - in fact, it’s probably best to select 3080, as it will be a better place holder.
