BIOS update for Spectre/Meltdown vulnerability.

Will PC Specialist be releasing any updates (BIOS or otherwise) for the Intel Specre &/or Meltdown vulnerability?

PCS get the BIOS updates from Clevo so it’s just waiting for them to become available. Never upgrade the BIOS or flash a microcode update without PCS say so as it will invalidate your warranty. Keep an eye on the downloads section of the main PCS site for new BIOS releases.

Yes - this is understood, but that does not mean that PCS should be passive about this. PCS is the customer of Clevo and should be applying pressure on behalf of PCS customers like us to get an updated BIOS issued ASAP.

Strange comment for your first post! What makes you think all the BIOS updates aren't already out?

I emailed PCS enquiring about a BIOS update for my laptop on Monday, on Tuesday they replied saying they have sent a "replacement" out by Royal Mail and today I got home to find a card from the postman saying that I need to collect my parcel from the sorting office because it's too big to fit though the letterbox. What the heck have they sent?

Well I've just picked up the parcel from the local sorting office... imagine my surprise when I opened it and found a new charger inside!

Update for anyone else in the same situation: There isn't a BIOS update for the Ultranote III available from Clevo yet, but they are apparently still rolling out and should be available soon. Fingers crossed...

Also, no #freestuff as they want the charger back. Oh well.

Totally agree...they can't send something by mistake then expect not to pay the collection charges.

To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't just say keep it. The cost of postage both ways, packing it to send etc can't be far from the buy price.
