Black horizontal line across the screen

Anyone had this problem? I have a Genesis laptop which was recently upgraded to Win 8.1, which after a few hiccups, finally decided to upgrade itself.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and recently I have noticed that around a two inch horizontal line suddenly appears across the page. If I flick across to another window and then back it will disappear. It is intermittent so not enough to get really annoying.

If it's just Firefox try downloading the latest version, then uninstall FF completely, including your user data (naturally you should backup your bookmarks first). Then try reinstalling FF and see how it goes.

If it happens in other apps then check that the video driver is up to date.

You could try disabling hardware acceleration within the Firefox browser:

Options - Advanced Panel - General Tab - Uncheck Use hardware acceleration where available
