After opening my laptop this evening, the screen was black, I waited for a while and then held the power button for 5 sec to reboot it.
After the reboot the screen was still black - screen backlight turns on after a bit and keyboard lights up, but the screen stays black.
I tried removing power and battery and waiting for a bit, but that didn't help.
I tried pressing del/F2/F12 during startup, but screen stays black, at no point there's anything appearing on it at all

Is there anything I could try to do to fix it?

UPDATE:
Removing all SSDs didn't fix it, looks like something in hardware is borked. I guess I'll have to wait for the support response =/

Just in case you weren't aware, the forums are mostly for the customer community and aren't an official support channel, so for direct PCS support you'd be best off phoning them. If you hadn't already phoned them / opened a support case, ofc :)

How is it if you connect the laptop up to an external monitor (or a TV with an HDMI input if you don't have a spare monitor)? Any picture there?

Sorry I didn't make it clear, yeah I submitted the support request, I was just hoping it's something very simple that I was missing, that forum community would pick on.

And you're right, it does work with a monitor through an hdmi. This is so bizarre, why would the laptop screen just stop working out of the blue. I don't carry the laptop around, just move it between rooms in hands.

How old is it? Do you open and close the lid a lot? Do you always lift the lid in the centre or do you lit it at the corners? It's not uncommon for laptop screens to be damaged by lifting from the corners and stressing the screen. It's also possible that the ribbon cable has been damaged, possibly through fraying on some part. Alternatively it could just be a loose connector.

Do you have dual graphics - onboard & nVidia?
Recently MS have been pushing out an incorrect driver for onboard graphics card which can cause black screen, the solution is to roll back the driver either via safe mode or via plugging in an external monitor via HDMI which should use nVidia.

Oh that's interesting news, do you have a source reference for that please?
