Hi I have a quick question about the optional blu-ray writer with the Vortex IV 17. I had assumed that it was internal, but looking at the info tab it seems to me to suggest that it is an external drive, it describes it as having a cordless option. Could anyone clarify what i would get ? I do hope it's actually internal ! Thanks :)

According to various sites (if you search the model number) it does come up as an internal drive. I'm honestly not sure what cordless means in this context but some other sites have it listed as a feature too...

The dimension and look of the thing make it an internal drive, it doesn't have any USB ports or anything that I can see in any pictures so its definitely internal
Product Description Samsung SN-506AB -
BDXL drive -
Serial ATA Device
Type BDXL drive
Enclosure Type Internal

If you want 100% email PCS or use the live chat facility tomorrow. I would say its fine to go ahead and order it as it looks like an internal drive. Fairly sure it would be much more clearly labelled if it wasn't.

Thanks Mantadog, i hope you're right. The comments in the "info" section just make me a little confused

Now you can get the ultimate slim portable Blu-ray writer. It's smooth and elegantly-rounded casing with a black high-gloss finish demands attention. Designed to simplify life "on the move" with a wide range of features, including cordless. The SN-506AB is easy to carry anywhere life takes you.

Something that's elegantly rounded with a black high gloss finish sounds like a feature of an external drive. Anyhow thanks for looking into it for me, as you suggest i'll send PCS an e-mail to confirm.

Looks to me (from a quick google) that the comments are taken from the 'blurb' (potentially from the manufacturer) and are the same across a number of sites. No idea what the cordless thing is referring to but looking at it I'd suggest its an internal drive.

Ta Steaky. I'm inclined to agree with you, especially as i really need it to be an internal one. I've e-mailed PCS to clarify.

When you get a response, if you could, would you post back here so we can refer to this in future if the question ever arises again? That'd be much appreaciated :)
