Blue Screen of Death - After like a month? :l

okay so, had my laptop for like a month, ordered from PC Specialist, I left my laptop turned on, was only on for about 30 minutes, I went afk, and when I came back, I got a message saying my laptop experienced blue screen of death, and it had to be restarted.. And no, it can't possibly be a software problem, because I had nothing open. I'm a little annoyed really, because I'm at university, and can't go without my laptop, so not really wanting to send it off to be looked at.. :/

Also, my brother ordered the same laptop, and he also has had problems, he was playing on league of legends, and it kept minimising onto the desktop for no reason, so he decided to try change the resolution, then next minute.. Blue screen of death..

We both paid £945 for our laptops, so pretty annoyed if I'm quite honest, you don't expect it.

I've heard of similar problems before and its normally caused by software - normally something running in the background (so you don't need to be specifically running it at the time yourself). So don't count software out of the equation at this point.
I'm sure some of the others on these forums can give some good advice to finding out what the culprit is (unfortunately I have about 5 billion things to do or my boss will kill me)

Ahh okay.. I don't really understand that though, because at the time of the bsod, I didn't really have many things downloaded.. I took a screenshot and literally all I had downloaded at this stage was google chrome, adobe reader, tiny task and skype.. I wouldn't have thought they would have caused any problems, It hasn't happened again since, this was on the 20th of sep, (had it for 3 weeks ish) up to this point, so I guess I'll just see how it goes.. and hope it doesn't happen again :l Haven't tried any gaming properly on the laptop yet, but hoping I won't have any problems which my brother experienced with league of legends, changing the resolution on LoL shouldn't really give a bsod really? A BSOD, is normally not nearly as bad as i looks, they mostly happen if there is a Graphics driver problem in my case. When i update my drivers i sometimes get BSOD and it can be anything from a bad driver installation to instability in a beta driver.

I would to start uninstall your Nvidia or AMD graphics drivers, restart and install the fresh GPU drivers from the website and see how your system runs.

For trouble shooting purposes i wouldn't recommend beta drivers.

LOL is a nightmare for minimizing, i keep hitting the windows keyboard keys all the time and that minimizes it. Quite annoying.

It's not PCS fault, these machines are built up of lots of components using different manufacturers drivers so hick ups should be expected with any PC/computer in my opinion.

If that doesn't work, provide us with a screenshot of the BSOD and we can get details from it.

You can also call PCS, there great for technical support and can sometimes remote log into your computer to sort things

Hey again, I tried what you listed above, about updating the graphics card drivers, but for some reason, my pc now doesn't shut down.. I can sometimes force shut down, and then other times it just doesn't shut down at all :/, I've been away this weekend, and not long got back, so haven't had chance to correct it.. And the problem is, I can't run a system restore, as it only goes up to the 4th, and I updated the graphics drivers on the 3rd, any suggestions what I can do to resolve this? Thanks alot.

Have a look in event viewer.
Go to control panel(All control panel items)/performance information and tools/click advanced tools on the left hand side/view performance details in event log.
this will take you to diagnostics-performance & boot /shut down events,It may or may not give a clue to the problem,but worth a try.
If nothing obvious showing there,at the top of the tree on the left hand side,click on custom views/administrative events.
You might get more information that points to something by selecting details/Friendly & XML view,in the event viewer.
you could also try selecting "event log online"at the bottom of the page.
As the issue appears to have started after installing graphics driver it would point to that being the problem,in which case try a clean install of the driver.
Nvidia drivers usually have an option during install to select "custom install" then "clean install" or something similar.

That's nothing, I had the BSOD after 10 minutes, now it has been repaired, I am getting it again...
