Blue Screen: Unexpected_Store_Exception error while on SubNautica (Win10)

Computer crashes when I'm on SubNautica....Only does it on this game. The hard drive seems to speed up and slow down most of the time (I save the game often).

GPU temp is at 70-73°C which is the highest any of my games have been.....since the game eats away your GPU.

I get the blue screen and the error 'Unexpected_Store_Exception'.

Any ideas how to fix it?

I followed the link

1. Drivers are up to date..... I check every week
2. sfc /scannow didn't show any errors
3. Same as this scan
4. Why would turning off Fast Startup have any effect on my problem when it only does it on a game
5. See number 1
6. I've never had a problem with BullGuard antivirus
7. No way
8. Computer is dusty inside, but I'm in no rush in cleaning it

Just out of curiosity are there forums or support for SubNautica? If so have you checked them to see if other people are experiencing similar issues or if it's a known issue with said game - and if so, there may be suggestions to fix it or workaround it.
I am only suggesting this because you say it only happens for this one game.

Would certainly forward the issue to the game devs. It may be a problem on their end that can be solved.

I posted the problem on the games forum on Steam 4 hours ago. No reply yet.

I guess it technically ties in with the other problem I had while playing two of the Lego games (which I've given up on)....I can't give up on this game as I find it rather enjoyable.

Not sure how to do it exactly as I'm not on Windows 10 at the moment but I believe there is a "Refresh OS" option somewhere which reinstalls Windows components without losing data or programs.

Mmmm. This process always feels to me like jumping out of a plane with a bag on your back that someone has assured you is a parachute.....!

FishyFrags, sorry I couldn't help more. It fascinated me because I've never heard of that BSOD before and I did spend some time researching it (as I'm sure you did). I doubt that many people can help you either because this BSOD is new to Windows 10 so not many people have seen it before and/or know what might be causing it.

Please let us know what you find out, it'll be a good education for me (us)! :)

Don't worry about it ubuysa.

I didn't really want to refresh the OS if I really had to. I would have to reinstall everything which would be a pain up the rear.

Anyway, I managed to fix the crashing by forcing the game to run on Direct3D 9 instead of Direct3D 11, or whatever it ran on before. I limited the frames to 75fps via AMD OverDrive (although this surprisingly didn't work, so while in the game I turned V-Sync on, now it's locked at 60fps).... It's running just fine now. The hard drive isn't speeding up/slowing down.

Wait I must have missed that bit, have you tried adjusting the power options to make sure the hard drive is never off? Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings -> + Hard Disk -> + Turn Hard disk off after -> Never (or very high)

No. Haven't messed with those settings. Just changed it to Never.....What does it do exactly?

Will mean the hard drive will never stop spinning, so hard drive lifetime could be reduced and power consumption increased. I prefer using a very high value to save power in case I leave it on overnight by mistake.
