So I just took delivery of a new laptop for work and upon first use, it seemed like the battery was dead. So I plugged it in and began the OS installation. It wasn't until I booted into the OS that I saw the little tray notification that no battery was plugged in.
Long story short, I looked through all the documentation, looked for something like a tab to pull out that might be stopping the battery from working but nope. I had to whip out the screw driver and have a look. Oh and yep, right in the centre, the battery connector was sitting on top of its socket, and not plugged in. Not very thorough testing you guys apparently do. I reseated the connector and it's now working fine.
Also, it's not very clear that you make drivers available for download. Would be nice if there was a flyer or a label stuck on the CD (no CD drive with the laptop, pretty funny joke you guys!) My personal computer doesn't have an optical drive, either. I was only able to find out about their existence by doing a search and reading a post from here in the forums. It might be a case of RTFM but that's a pretty important piece of info.
I like the laptop, and the time from order to delivery was quite quick, but I can't help but real the whole experience was a little amateurish. The other orders I've placed in the past have all been fine.
Order number 865095, in case you're interested.
Edit: An update. More problems. So I've been going through the process of installing drivers and now on system boot, the BIOS doesn't detect the SSD and thus no OS. Doing some Googling, it can apparently be put down to the BIOS deciding to assign a different port number to the SSD than it was meant to have. In the advanced tab of the BIOS, the SATA mode selection shows Port 0 and Port 2 (both empty). I'm guessing the SSD is attached to Port 1 and that's why I can't boot? Not sure how to fix.
Edit2: Okay, I powered the laptop down entirely and started it back up and it now seems to be working. *sigh* I'll see how it goes.
