Thanks, guys.

One more question...

I have loads of spare W7 disk lying around due to my career but despise anything to do with drivers. As I understand it, PCS provide disks with all relevant drivers on it so all I have to do is install them from a disk and everything should work?

I don't really fancy paying £79 for a W7 when I have plenty here.

They do provide disks with drivers on them, but to get the latest ones you need to go to the website :)

Think PCS provide links to the websites on your account page.. Im not 100% though :)

I have never done it myself but as far as I know, you put the disk in, boot from it in the bios and then put in your product key when it asks for it.

as far as i know, PCS still install Windows 7 on all the PCs then you activate the code you either received from PCS or already own, I'm not 100% sure if they still do this

Wozza63

Biblical Poster
if you dont get an HDD from them, then i dont know, because if you are using your own drive i believe you have to send it in, so it can be tested with the system

I'll just risk it. I'll probably keep the 250GB in my order as a spare and use my old 1TB as my main. So I'll 'test' the 250 first and if that goes well, will do it properly with the 1TB.

Now to wait for my refund to come through from PCS so I can place my order! Again!

Cheers guys.

1 more question:

Is there much difference between these Mobos besides the price:

ASUS® P8Z68-V LX

ASUS® P8Z68-V/GEN3

(The first one makes my PC much more affordable) Rest of my specs on Page 1.

Still a good build?

Out of curiosity, I went to AMD processors and seemed to get a better price for the same spec:

Case
STYLISH PIANO BLACK ENIGMA CASE + 2 FRONT USB

Processor (CPU)
AMD PHENOM II X4 QUAD CORE 955 (3.20GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3)

Motherboard
ASUS® M5A78L-M/USB3: M-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 3.0Gb/s

Memory (RAM)
4GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)

Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 570 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
250GB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT

Power Supply
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£59)

Is this or the Intel i5 2400 better?

Those processors are roughly equal, if anything the intel would be slightly better. It's not just about GHz and number of cores :)

The Nvidia version of the Radeon HD 6870 is the GTX 560 Ti, which is more expensive. Although, the graphics card you've got in that AMD build in post #16 is extremely good (better than the 560 ti and the 6870).

What is the full spec and price of the build in post #16?

Also, you've chosen the base case there, I would definitely recommend spending an extra £6 on the Cooler Master 310 Elite case, it will look after your components much better.

If the spec which you showed part of is this then just make sure that you have the Silver warranty selected (£5) and that if you need to connect to your router wirelessly you have selected a PCI network card:

STYLISH PIANO BLACK ENIGMA CASE + 2 FRONT USB

The 6870 is between the 560 and the 560 ti, closer to the 560 I think. I would stick to your intel cpu, the i5 would be brilliant if you could afford it. I have put together a spec which I think will very good for you. Here it is:

Case
COOLERMASTER ELITE 310 BLUE CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2400 Quad Core (3.10GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics Very good cpu
Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V LX: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX Should be fine
Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT) Plenty and a fast RAM
Graphics Card
1.25GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti 448 CORE (Ltd Edition Superfast Card) Very good card, only a fraction slower than the 570, is much better than a 6870 or 560 ti
Free Item
FREE Battlefield 3 with Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 CORE! Bonus
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
250GB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm) Not great but we have discussed this
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£59) Should be fine, 450w is going to be too small.
Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19) Case Very good value cooler
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities
2 x 200Mbps HomePlug AV - Create a Wired Network Using Electric Sockets! (£38) These are much better than the wifi card, however, if you can't afford them, drop them
USB Options
6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD
Operating System
NO OPERATING SYSTEM REQUIRED
Office Software
NO OFFICE SOFTWARE
Anti-Virus
NO ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE
Warranty
3 Year Silver Warranty (1 Year Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour) (£5)
Delivery
STANDARD INSURED DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (MON-FRI)
Build Time
Standard Build - Approximately 8 to 10 working days

Price: £779.00 including VAT and delivery. Just outside your budget due to homeplugs but if you can afford it, it will be worth it.
