I believe this is the same build as before - is there anything you can recommend? It would be good if I could decrease the price, but not the power by too much, I still want to run Unreal Engine well and get 1440p max on most games (or all, not sure). This was previously a 4K60 build, but now it’s a 1440p max build.

Not sure if you have a PC at the moment, if so can you draw an extra couple of months performance out of it? 1080TI will soon by replaced by Volta, offering sizeable performance gains if the Titan V leaks are anything to go by.

Unless it's urgent, personally, I couldn't spend £700 on a card that will be £400 in a couple of months time with the Volta refresh.

I'd also suggest switching out your Samsung SSD for an M2 model, P961 perhaps.

32GB RAM is a complete waste of money as well, just get 16GB, nothing at 1440p will need more than that.

PCS don't offer the PM961 in 500gb - they have the 960 Evo which is much, much more expensive than the 850 Evo. If you have the budget I'd say it's worth going for, but if you're at the upper limit of that it may not be viable.

Agreed about the RAM for gaming, but if UE and/or rendering uses I believe the OP has, it could potentially be an asset. There's always the option of buying 16gb now and 16gb later too ofc.

What's the latest on Volta? I heard there might be an announcement in Jan or March, but I hadn't heard there was any realistic expectation of the geforce cards being widely available at that point.

Yep, I wouldn't be a proper PC gamer if I didn't know about the Titan V :p and I'm happy that will hopefully decrease the price of the 1080 Ti. I'm not getting this PC for ages, but it's good to have a plan and using the forums to look up specs also helps to improve my knowledge of hardware.

I think the 32GB RAM will be a big asset as rendering is a huge part of using the Unreal Engine and they say it runs extremely well on 32GB. However, I couldn't agree more that 16GB is the max for a gaming-only setup, I've only see one game that in the recommended specs says 16GB RAM, most of the time it's 8.

What's your opinion on the monitor anways? I think that 144hz is definitely a viable option when going for a 1440p setup, because it will make gaming and general use so much more fluid, and G-SYNC will just top it off.

Thanks for the replies by the way!

I also really enjoy helping people out on the forums who need it, I'd love to be a mod :)

If you're not buying it for ages, there's no real point making a plan. Since there may well be new GPUs, new motherboards, and new CPUs out by then, plus PCS's stock selection might have changed, and prices could be different too. :)

I'm aware, but then again, I think this sorta thing has improved my knowlege, so it's mainly for that
