Building/buying first gaming pc

Hello everybody.
I am looking to buy my first ever gaming pc, i have a very minimal knowledge of all the components (i know what they’re for) but thats about it, so any help is greatly appreciated
I read the requirments so monitor im looking to use is https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gamin...ed-led-gaming-monitor-black-10202550-pdt.html
A full hd 1080p monitor with refresh rate of 144mhz and response time 1ms, hdmi port

My budget is between £750-1500, the reason for this varied budget and mainly why im here is because i don’t wanna spend like under 500 on a system when for extra couple hundred i could have got a lot better, but i also dont wanna spend 1.5k if its not needed cos a 500 pound system would of met my needs but i will spend the 1.5k if it is.
I will be using the pc for gaming only, the games ill be playing are rust, valheim, football manager and any other steam games of that sort, my gf will also be using it for sims 3 & 4 and at some point in the future but not immediatly so next year or so id like to use VR, games like fifa and cod and cyberpunk ill play on my ps4, so will only be for sims and games like valheim, rust, dayz etc

here is some ive been looking at

apologies if not enough information but hopefully someone can help, cheers

As PCS own this site we can only comment on their products, so ok with Vortex but not sure other is PCS.

With Currys you have the advantage of quick pick up, whereas PCS are snowed under during current crisis. Downside is Currys lousy customer service.

For 1500 you could get a much better custom rig from PCS and there are plenty of people here who would be happy to help you put a spec together.

cheers for your help mate

Hopefully someone will spot this and respond. Will need some information, we have your budget. Do you already have monitor, keyboard etc or will you need that. If you have a monitor, what sort, refresh rate etc, that helps with which GPU to select.

There are some good stickies on the forum worth looking at, they will help.

For your budget this is the PC I'd recommend. the 5600X is a great gaming CPU at the moment and the 3060 will be a good pairing for a 1080p 144hz monitor. The 1TB SSD will give you ample space for Windows, programs and your games, then the 1TB HDD will give you space for any general files you may need to store. The RM PSU will power this system comfortably and allow for upgrades down the line. The antivirus has been known to cause issues so it's been removed and the silver warranty is well worth the £5

For VR, it's likely you'll want a 3070 or better, which realisitcally you can't get for this budget without making major sacrifices. I'd recommend sticking with the 3060, then upgrading to a better GPU when you get into VR otherwise you're throwing money down the drain as a 3070 is massive overkill for a 1080p 144hz monitor

If you have a Windows PC/ laptop that you don't use or won't use after this, you could copy the Windows key over which would save £85 which could be spent elsewhere.

Also what monitor are you looking at? There's a couple of 1080p 144hz monitors we recommend to everyone, so would be interesting to hear your choice, if you've chosen one yet.

Solid spec by Junior. I would probably downgrade the GPU to the 2060 as its back in stock (for now). The 3060 doesn't offer a massive improvement over the 2060 for the extra £150 that you're paying for it. With the games you are playing on PC the 3060 wouldn't really be needed i.e not Cyberpunk.
However, when you do want to dip your toes into VR I would definitely recommend a GPU upgrade as the 2060 will struggle a little bit, but if you're talking about next year prices should have stabilised by then and you'll get much better bang for your buck.
The MSI monitor you've picked will do a great job.

The Nvidia 2060. The ASUS is a specific mode of the 2060 as opposed to the Nvidia which will be whatever PCS can get a hold of, usually would be Palit or Zotac but 2060 stock is drying up so it might be other models. The ASUS variant will have faster clock speeds and might improve performance by a few frames, but isn’t worth the extra £78.
