Hi everyone hope your all well. This is my first PC and im quite excited to have it built. I will be using it for gaming and for university work. One thing to note is that i dont know if i will be over clocking it but ive chosen the liquid cooling system (H80i) to keep it cool because my room can get pretty warm and also i do not know if that super quite copper fan that PC Specialist provide for £19 is good enough to keep my PC cool.

Please let me know what you guys think. I've also chosen the Motherboard with the wifi built in instead of getting those adapter things.

Thanks

Without overclocking the cpu the triple copper heatpipe should be as good as the hydro corsair coolers.
I'd suggest at least silver warranty and if you are planning to SLI you need to upgrade your PSU.

Thanks. I will change the cooling and the warranty. I dont think i will be going SLI anytime soon but do you still think i should upgrade the PSU?

If you are not planning to sli you don't need to upgrade the psu, you could downgrade the motherboard instead. What sort of uni work are you planning to do? CPU intensive?

I'm going to be doing computer science. I code this motherboard because it has the built in wifi and the other ones don't.

If the only reasons you have chosen the pro version is for the wifi built in it will be cheaper to get a different motherboard and add a wireless card. A pair of homeplugs should provide a more reliable connection.

I don't really understand the home plugs and what they are and I don't like the look of the wireless cards that have those antenna sticking out.

The motherboard with built in wifi will also need an anthena to be attached.
Homeplugs should offer a more reliable connection to the wireless connection, you need a pair. One close to your router and one close to your computer.

I assumed that the wifi motherboard would provide me with the wireless internet just like a laptop?

Then why do i need the antenna and the plugs for?

because my pc will be in the same room as the router anyway so it shouldn't make a different to the connection?
The Wifi on the mobo still has small antenna that need to be used, it is not like a laptop that requires no antenna.
You might be fine without if you are close, but I wouldn't bet on it :)

As far as I know there are many things affecting the connection of a wireless card. I have an Asus Zenbook laptop and I find the wireless on it very unreliable (next to the router), I had to purchased a pair of homeplugs because the connection kept dropping.

Oh ok. Can a home plug off a extension lead socket? or does it have to work from an actual mains socket?

If i get a home plug and connect that to the computer then will i need an antenna?

No antennas with homeplugs, one is connected to the computer using an Ethernet cable and the other one is connected close to the router.

Intel® I217V Gigabit LAN / Speedy Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n supports dual frequency band 2.4/5 GHz

This is the wifi on the Motherboard. I thought that was good enough and i didn't know that i needed another antenna.

Can i connect a home plug to an extension cable socket or do i need an actual wall socket?

Yes it will be fine, the antennas you need for either the wireless card or Motherboard WiFi are always included with your order anyway, you would never need to buy extra ones.

Ah ok.

Thanks for the help guys much appreciated.

What do you think about my build then?
