Cable Management

Hi all,

My build is in pre-production, pretty excited about it being finished and delivered.

When it's being built, do the engineers take time to cable-manage? Mine will have the usual fan/pci-e/main power cables, so I was wondering how much time is spent organising the wiring efficiently so that adding and removing fans/drives/gpu isn't like looking at a mess of spaghetti? Can I pay extra to have it done really well?

Is my warranty voided if I disassemble and reassemble when I receive my system if it looks a bit of a mess? I would've preferred building it from scratch myself, but like everyone else I can't get my hands on a gpu for a reasonable price without going through a builder like PCS (who it must be said do a great job of keeping prices fair in the current market).

Thanks!

For me - thier cable management was epic! Much better than I imagine I could have done myself. :) I highly doubt you will need to change anything.....

I have reconfigured some fas layouts however from their original install - as their choice of headers was not to my liking - and yes they have an open case warranty, so as long as you don't damage anything through negligence then you are fine to do what you like. The usual restrictions apply - CPU, Motherboard and case can't be changed or altered, BIOS can't be updated without permission - that sort of thing. Full details are in their warranty terms on their site.

Personally i think they do the GPU cables awful, most cases you can easily manage the cables below the card, but PCS always seem to run it over and out the same hole as the 24-pin.

Looks like a mixed bag!

Glad to hear that I can unplug and reroute cables without voiding the warranty, but hopeful they'll do a good job on mine so I don't have to mess around with it.

Cheers.

Was just looking through a few 'Show your Build' posts and I see what you mean actually. Seems a bit weird particualrly when PSU acces slots are almost always sitting right underneath the GPU. Personal preference perhaps.....

On my build they plugged a 3 pin fan into the CPU_OPT header which is tied to the CPU fan and therefore was PWM only - so it ran at full speed the whole time. I moved it to a closer header which could give independent DC control.

They way they had it could only have been an expediency measure on their behalf I think because it would have taken a BIOS tweak to make it work properly, but their routing did hide the cables better than my solution - so I'll give them benefit of the doubt and say that they did a better job at hiding the cables than I did! :D

Oh, and my GPU is PCIe power only. I feel so inadequate.....
