Hi, I too am facing a similar problem, just received the PC and wifi keeps disconnecting, I did a speed test and download speed is 5mbps and upload speed is 4mbps, whereas in my other Asus PC download is 75mbps and higher upload too. I don't know what to do because its interfering my work from home so much. I am with virgin media.

Have you connected rear both aerials?

is it connecting on 2.4ghz or 5ghz?

If 2.4 is it running on a crowded channel, overlaps?

The Wi-Fi antennas are screwed in pretty comfortably and its connected on 2.4ghz, channel 11, protocol 802.11g
I don't know how to jump to other channels though :/

I've moved your posts to their own thread. It's not nice to hijack someone else asking for help, even if it is similar.

Did you buy a copy of Windows with the PC or did you install your own?

Have you run Windows Update since you took delivery?

Hey sorry and thanks for doing that, literally first time posting on a forum so a lot inexperienced in that matter.

I bought it I guess since didn't install anything and windows 10 was already installed.

Currently I am up to date but yea I think I have, the pc sorta suggests it from time to time before it shuts down.

No worries, it happens all the time. :)

That your Asus PC gets decent speeds suggests it's not the channel nor the protocol - both are setup and changed in the router. Channel 11 is a popular and thus typically congested channel and 802.11g is an old and slower protocol, 802.11n would be faster - but as mentioned, if another PC is working fine with these settings they're unlikely to be the problem.

Can you open an elevated PowerShell prompt please and post a screenshot of the output to these commands:

Get-NetAdapterBinding - this will show us the networking features using your WiFi (and other adapters)

Get_NetAdapterAdvancedProperty - this will show us the advanced properties settings in your WiFi (and other adapters)

Also go into Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi and click on your adapter icon. Scroll down the screen that follows to where the Properties are shown, click the Copy button and paste that output into your reply here.

Hi, sorry about the late reply, I had to go to bed and then had work after - and am going back to bed after posting this.

So as you asked I put the first command in the PowerShell. The second one didn't work for some reason.

The 110 mbps is the speed from my MacBook, surprisingly the new Asus hit 23mbps, while my other Asus pc hits about 60-75.

I'm sorry I forgot to upload the Wi-Fi properties, I'll upload below. But testing 3 different machines we can tell the ax200 Wi-Fi card is responsible. Thankfully it hasn't disconnected, though it did yesterday when I tried to download a 2gb file.

Recent test - Download time for a 46mb file
This Pc - 12seconds
Mac- 3 seconds

Thankyou for your help in advance!

Your DNS settings don't look right.

Can you post a screenshot of your network adapters?

Ah, my bad, that is virgin media's DNS servers.

BUT, you can see that the link speed is only 54mbps and the protocol seems to be stuck on 802.11a, which is the first construct of wifi. I'm not surprised your having connection difficulties.

Even if it was on 802.11g, that would still be bad.

It should be on 802.11n at the very minimum.

If you go into device manager, find your wireless network adapter, right click it and uninstall, include uninstalling the software.

Then reboot and it should automatically reinstall the wireless device. Then try reconnecting.

Thanks, I could see a little improvement but the speed is somewhat the same as before even after uninstalling it.
Its weird how linkspeed in properties rose to 156mbps but actual speed didn't. Also changed the protocol to 802.11ac
Is bullguard a problem?

You need to uninstall bullguard, it's been known to cause issues with networking and is not very good anyway, windows defender is far better.

My mistake, it should be Get-NetAdapterAdvancedProperty.

However, from your adapter properties you can see that you'r using the 802.11a protocol which, as you can see, has a maximum download speed of 54Mbps. Your wireless card is capable of using 802.11ac or at the very least 802.11n - either will give you much better speeds.

The protocol may be selectable in your AX200 advanced settings or possibly in the settings in your router. It's clear from the download speed on the other PC that your router is capable of at least 802.11n and that's what your AX200 should be using (unless your router supports 802.11ac, in which case you should use that).

I very much suspect that all the other settings for your AX200 are not optimised for using 802.11a and I have no idea why it's using that protocol. I'm betting that's why you're seeing such poor speeds.
