Case Fan

Hi everyone,

I recently started up my PC around an hour ago, upon doing so I now have an irritating grinding/constant ticking sound coming from my 200mm fan in the roof of my PC. I am currently using a Coolermaster Storm Trooper case and there has been faint clicking in the past but it seems to have pushed on through it. This time around it is pretty evident that it appears to be on the ropes I assume it is at the point of no return and will need replacing.

Does everyone assume this will be the case? (minus the pun) :)

thanks

are you certain its the 200m fan?

i've got the trooper case too. Great case, I never used the stock case fans. I didn't like them. I'd suggest getting two 140mm fans and fit them where the 200mm is. - IF the fan is defo faulty that is.

Would it be fine to boot the PC minus the 200mm fan plugged into the motherboard? Just so that I can guarantee it is the fan. The sound coming from the case is rather meaty but does sound as though its towards the top.

I only recently had the side panel off for a good clean and check over to ensure everything was fine inside.

I'll give that ago, hopefully narrows the issue down.

If thats the case I will take your advice and go for two 140mm exhaust fans. As I have seen on this forum plus others that users of the storm trooper instantly switch out the 200mm fan due to it being slow from what I can gather.

And I will admit it doesn't shift that much air barely a draft comes out of the top of the case when switched on.

lol, but its funny when people walk in your room/office/den/mancave/treehouse and say "wheres that draft coming from?"
