CHA_FAN3 Max Speed?

I took delivery of my pc today, and after going into the bios it shows me that CHA_FAN3 is in the red? Meaning it's going over or running at its max speed. Currently it's only going 399 rpm...

Another thing is the bios/test windows screen doesn't fill the monitor, even when running at 1080p... I was just assuming this is because I haven't installed graphics/monitor drivers yet though...

I had the same low speed, you can use the Asus bios to determine the temperature settings at which your fan will use its max speed. This was the same with my recent build. It was probably the case that you cpu wasn't too hot. If you still get the same rpm while gaming then they you may have to have a play in bios. There will be plenty of articles/videos on YouTube for this.

As far as display is concerned make sure your drivers for your GPU are upto date and you can either use the software for your GPU to fit to screen, or alternatively go into control panel/display. I'm not on my Pc so can't send the exact screen grab.

So it's a low speed that the bios is showing as a max speed? Everything is running nice and cool so I'm not worried, it's just weird that it shows it as max speed...

I always find case fans impossible to control when plugged into the motherboard. one reason i got a fan controller.

if you try installing asus suite, and check on asus probe II you may be able to speed up the fans.

No sorry I should explain a little better. The bios let's you tweak whether you want all your fans running at full speed (undesirable for noise) or whether you want them to b somewhat dynamic in changing based on the temperature of your components. I think Asus offer a fan suite which will let you tweak your settings from windows. I'll hunt down the link.

Thanks guys - I'll let you know once i've got windows installed. I'm installing using a USB stick with windows 7 on, do I want to choose UEFI USB or just USB? It should only matter if i'm installing on a big hard drive right? I'm only installing on a 120gb ssd
