Changing email address on main website

Why can't you change your email address on the main account via the internet...Why do you have to ring up to change it?

Because they've used a very basic account system, the way the website is built accounts are identified by your email address and it's used as a username, to change it they would probably have to recreate your account with the new email address.

I sent an email asking if they can change my email address without phoning and they've changed it for me

I have just hit this same problem. Why not have proper usernames instead of forcing a volatile email address into that role? I used an email provided by an ISP whom I am leaving. Silly and irritating.
