Clarity on cooling option

Hey Guys,

I wonder if someone can help me?

Processor Cooling
Corsair H115i PRO Cooler w/ PCS Ultra Quiet Fans

Does anyone know what w/PCS ultra quiet fans means? Are these additional case fans? Would I be better off going with the H115i platinum and extra case fans?

TThank you

I'd recommend the Platinum anyway, as it's a much improved solution to the Pro version.

Don't know what your case/build is, so can't say whether you'd need extra case fans - it might simply depend on whether you've got the space once the AIO cooler is in place.

If you can post the whole spec of the system you're considering, we'll be in a better position to advise.

Thanks for the reply. I'll note down the spec here (I've made some amendments and it's not bring over the correct info):

COOLERMASTER TD500 MASTERBOX mesh
5900x
3080 10gb
X570 tuf gaming mobo
16gb 3600mhz
1000w corsair gold modular psu
H115 Pro w/PCS specialist fans (maybe change to platinum)
Additional thermallake tough fan (rear/roof)
2tb hdd
1tb ssd

Definitely change it to the RGB Platinum. And you can also drop the additional fans, they won't be necessary.

Yeah, a couple of things could do with tidying up. You could do with an M.2 drive on there for ultra fast boot times and if you get the Corsair cooler you won't need the thermal paste as it comes with a quality one already applied. You'll also need to pair that CPU with the ROG Strix motherboard, it's got better heat sinks and VRM.

What's your total budget, please? And what monitor have you got?

Interesting. My budget is around 2300, and I've got the tuf gaming 32 inch curved vg1b monitor right now. Just using it for gaming really!

For a pure gaming build you're going a bit overkill with that CPU. You probably wouldn't get much benefit from it unless you were mega into Flight Sim. What's your monitor's resolution and refresh rate?

I might do you an alternative spec to have a look at and see what you think...

Can't say that I am haha. Its 165hz 2560x1440. If you don't mind I'd really appreciate it. As you can probably tell this is my first build.

No worries!

This is what I've come up with, it's a peach for 1440p gaming (I'm using a 3070 with an ultrawide 1440p 144Hz monitor and it's fantastic) and we can put some of the money saved on changing the CPU and GPU elsewhere in the build. If there's any queries, give me a shout!

Thanks a bunch for this. Really considering downgrading to a 3070 seeing as I don't plan on buying a 4k monitor for a while (plus perhaps a better chance of receiving it sooner). Just curious if you would know. If I were to downgrade how would this affect the fiance that's already been used for the order?

Okay, so if you go into your orders from your main PCS account an find your order number there should be an option to 'amend/upgrade'. Go into that and make whatever changes you want.

Now if you went with the one I've done exactly you'd end up with around £160 credit with PCS. So your finance wouldn't be affected, it'd still be the same as before. It just means that if you want to upgrade your graphics card with them in a few years time, they'll take that £160 off the total cost, the rest you'd just pay up front for.
