Clarity on current build process -

Hopefully this will be useful to some awaiting their orders:

I put a new order in for a 5900x based system on launch day, Nov 5 at 14:02. I added in a 6800XT on launch day Nov 18 at 13:58.

Automated emails received throughout estimating Nov 30 as build date.

Spoke to someone on Live chat last week who confirmed "No ETA for the 6800XT and it could likely be after Christmas". At that point no 5900x in stock but expected sooner than 6800 XT.

Cancelled the order for 6800 XT and it went into build yesterday Nov 30 - in testing straight after and now awaiting despatch. All in 24 hrs and on original timescales.

Part of order recently out of stock - Corsair 500D SE and H100i cooler. So this evidences that my parts must have already been allocated whilst in pre-production, and they obviously now have some 5900x's available.

Very pleased with the service!

Yeah, if you look in the 3080 thread, there is apparently a 590~ queue for 5900x currently

Yes, I also lost on a similar gamble in swapping from an RTX3080 to a 6800XT...but my initial system order was from 13-Oct.

I did the flip to Zen 3 ASAP, and the 6800XT as quickly as you, but it seems both parts were not likely before Christmas...so with a suggested downgrade (via call to the sales team, rather than on the order tool, on Friday) to an RTX3070 + upgrade to 5800X it has quickly gone through build/test/dispatch.

I'm going to keep an eye out for a 6800XT or RTX3080 in 6 months or so (assuming RTX4xxx or AMD 7xxx are not out by then) and upgrade once I've configured my space for a decent 4k 16:9 or 1440p ultra wide.

I'm going to stick my current 2GB Sapphire 7850 in temporarily until the bunfight starts for a 6900 XT next week :ROFLMAO:

I haven't even really got a gaming PC, so no backup.

I had been using my 2019 iMac (dual boot into W10 and MacOS), but the games performance (in W10, MacOS is worse) is not good with the Vega 20, I really should have save a few hundred £££ and gone for the Radeon Pro 560X option instead...even the M295X GPU in my old 2014 iMac is faster.

I only decided to buy a new computer because my current employer has a £1000 grant towards tech (can be used for chairs/desks/broadband/computer/monitor/etc.) for those of us forced to work from home...but it has to be claimed by 18-Dec or it's lost...unless they do a similar scheme next year.

It would be great to know if the current orders for Ryzen 5000 / RX6000 items is in pre-order status or not. It looks like the website only provides this type of information if you are amending the order or creating a new one (ordered the 23rd of Nov - still set my expectations for another 3-4 weeks at least)
