Hi,
I bought this comp about 2 1/2 years ago from PCS and up until now it has given great service. However during a game it froze up an when rebooted there was a problem with the graphics. When i checked device manager it stated that it could not start device " code 10".
I have updated the driver, swopped graphics cards and carried out a system restore but the problem persists.
Any idea's,before it goes to the repair shop :(
Thanks in advance,

Groggo.

I don't think this is simply a matter of flashing the BIOS - to me it sounds like the graphics card has failed, because it's been working correctly for 2.5 years and then all of a sudden froze.

Before replacing the card, download the latest drivers from Nvidia.co.uk and check the temperature that it's running at. Failing this, you may need to replace the card.

When i say i swopped cards i meant that i replaced the 1 that was in for a spare,so unless that one has packed up too it isn't the graphics card.

I missed that part - so you've replaced the 8800GTS with another 8800GTS that you had spare? Have you downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia.co.uk?

Hmm - in that case I would firstly try system restore - restore your computer to a time before the problem occurred. Failing that I would recommend you re-install your operating system.

This is a strange one though to be honest - from what you have described I would have said your graphics card has failed, but if both cards are doing the same then there must be a different issue.

I have found the problem..it turns out i have 2 duff cards.
I had done a system restore ....the problem was still there so i figured it was almost sure to be a hardware problem.
So i dug out another card, put it in and it is now running fine.It sure is turning out to be an expensive week...lol.
Thanks for your help..it is much appreciated.
