Comet in Administration story

I've been doing some research about Comet going into Administration for something at work and came across this story:

Think it's ridiculous to be fair! If somebody's purchased a gift card then nobody should be able to decline it; especially to a charity. You've given them your money at the end of the day, you should be entitled to redeem that amount. Never really rated comet, especially since PC World combined with Currys can offer much cheaper products and a wider computing selection. Apparently even Comet's closing down sale offers were still much more expensive than elsewhere.

At least there's still some good in humanity so the kid could still get his iPad.. Even if it wasn't how they originally planned.

oh no the poor government!

You do realise that when you say gvt, you mean us, the tax payer...just sayin' :)

OT: The charity's first mistake was buying from Comet. Their second mistake was choosing an iPad :D

Very nice story though from the human side of things and shows that whatever the news generally might suggest, there is still good deeds done for no reason :)

It is standard practice that when a company enters administration all creditors have to wait for payment, which is usually pittance. This includes store cards and supplier companies.
The business can continue making cash sales using existing assets. This has been happening for a while and there is nothing Comet can do as this has been set by Deloitte (their administrator).

For some reason the Daily Mail will always try and find some unfortunate individual with a store card that cant be reclaimed and trumped their problem, just like they did with Game not so long ago (although they then honored their store cards when they came out of administration). The real story in this is the generosity of the individual who donated the money, that should be the headline.

And that is why no one will be getting a HMV store card this Christmas from me.
