Console Gamer Attempts to Buy a PC

Hi, happy new year, all.

Well as the title says I'm a console gamer looking to move on as i want to start streaming and also do some light content creating as a hobby, so basically looking at putting together my first PC since 2004 (pre built Compaq from PC World) which will hopefully be a solid 1440p build.

I read some articles and also saw a few videos which suggested the motherboard i've chosen would be a good choice but may need a BIOS update? Though these were a few months old so i'm assuming i likely won't need to do that as the MOBO should now be ready for the 7800X3D now? Also in terms of RAM i've also read a few times that the X3D won't really need 6000mhz+ as it pretty much does the heavy lifting. is that right? The main issue i'm wondering about is in regards to power and cooling, which i'm absolutely clueless about. I know the Fractal North case i've chosen comes with 2-3 fans depending on components I add but was wondering if i'd need much more as I've also heard that the X3D stays quite cool and will possibly only need air fans rather than liquid cooling? I've added the '3 x Corsair AF120 RGB ELITE PWM Fan + Controller Kit' though i'm wondering if that would be overkill.

I'd really appreciate help and further advice with my build decisions so far as well as any help with the power/cooling issue. I'll attach a couple of screenshots of the build.

Oh, in regards to Nvidia GPU's do you think it would be a good idea to wait until the release of the 'Super' line for 40 series cards? I'd like to think the 4070/4070 Ti come down at least £100 once the release date is confirmed - or wishful thinking?

Thanks very much.

Perhaps not then, thanks anyway.
Spydie (not to be confused with Spidie) - is simply asking that you read the linked post provided and answer some of the questions therein.

The fact that you have not provide this information thus forth means either 1) you didn't read it and so are ignoring Spydie, or 2) did read it and chose to ignore the hints/tips/questions asked in there.

Basically we want the pasted config from the 'copy config to forum' link on the bottom of your config page (after the proceed bit and the post to forum button) - as detailed in the provided sticky link...along with the link to the config to enable the volunteer elves to tweak it without having to recreate it from scratch.

It also asks for monitor specs (or just the specific model) so that we can see what sort of graphics performance we need to aim for.

Lastly, but probably not completely, it asks for max budget so we know if we have to tweak up or down to a specific price point.

The reason for all of this, is you may think that us asking you one question at a time is better for you, but when many people are asking the volunteers the same questions over & over, it becomes much simpler and time-saving to point them all to the same sticky thread containing all the things we need to know.

Budget: Around £2000

I basically wanted to know if the components I've added (motherboard and cooling mostly) to the build would be sufficient enough for the CPU and GPU, also if air cooling would be sufficient for an X3D or whether liquid cooling would be overkill. Also I added extra fans, would this too be overkill for the system as I'm pretty sure the case comes with 2-3 fans already which will be likely placed at the front? I'm a novice with all this and just wanted to have a build that would last me a few years without much need for tinkering further down the line without overspending on components i won't really need.

Thank you.

And now we just need the configuration link, so we don't have to enter all the above before making any changes

Can I ask, did you realise it was a link and just skipped it or did you open it and read something that put you off?
I saw it but assumed it was a link for myself for later reconfiguration if needed. I have autoimmune issues which can impair cognitive processes, having a bit of a rough last few days. Plus I'm a bit thick.

Totally understand, I was just concerned there was something within the thread that was coming across as off putting in some way in which case we could have reworded it.

Thanks for explaining, appreciate it.

Monitor: 25" Pixio 1440p 165hz
Just to clarify, I can't find a 25" 1440p monitor that they do, is it a 27" monitor as if it is indeed 25", that's likely a 1080p panel?

This is where the model number is quite handy as it takes away any doubt?

Below is where I would land with your current GPU choice. Note that there are new Super versions coming out next month that are better value than the current offerings. I would also give the 7800XT from AMD a consideration as it would have your panel uses covered nicely also.

Hi Everyone,

So I'm looking for a solid 1440p gaming build that I can also comfortably stream on whilst playing. I was also wanting to do some light content creation, game walkthroughs videos, tutorials etc for YouTube. I'm also trying to create a build which will (hopefully) last me at least 3-5 years before needing any major upgrading. The monitor I'll be using is a Pixio PX277 Prime which is an IPS 1440p monitor which is 165hz (with a display port connected), along with an additional Dell monitor which I'll be using for OBS/stream. My budget was £1800 but was happy to go slightly over for that specific CPU/GPU combo - after seeing a few reviews and benchmarks of the RX 7900 GRE I chose it over the 7800 XT as I'll get around 10+ fps and it apparently runs 10c cooler on average and apparently is somewhat of a rarity outside China at the moment. So what I'm asking will it be an adequate enough build for all my before mentioned needs.

Also I'm likely going to buy an additional 1-2TB external drive for storage etc.

Thank you.

Was there anything wrong with the previous suggestion on your other thread which is a far better build for your uses?
