Cooler Master Notepal U3 vs Xpad

Vortex II cooler needed

Now that my Vortex II 17.3inch lappy is on its way I'm searching for a decent laptop cooler. My ideal cooler is something with both active and passive cooling ability so I can rely on passive cooling normally and switch on fans when gaming. Haven't found anything like that yet.

I was thinking of the NZXT Cyro but that's not available in UK. Cooler Master SF-19 is too expensive and heavy so don't think I want to have that on my lap. I'll be using the laptop on my lap most of the time.

The Cooler Master Notepal U3 looks good but not sure if it's only suitable for using in the table because the fans are adjusted at the bottom. Xpad should help a bit because of the Vortex II's vents. Cooler Master X2 looks ok but the plastic might break off easily... "takes air from a bottom intake" also confuses me. Don't know if it means hot air is drawn away from the lappy at the bottom or it gathers cold air from the bottom of the cooler and sends it upwards into the lappy.

Need some suggestions.

i have a cheep one i bought from amazon it has 2 100mm fans and is made of aluminium so i can switch it on when i use for gaming but it needs a cooler constantly now due to over use on a carpet and something seriously went wrong with it. :(

So you're saying your notebook cooler decreased temps by 1-3 degrees fahrenheit on idle/load? Surely that's not much of an increase at all?!

Perhaps it would be a good idea to obtain a temperature graph for with and without cooler to more accurately compare the temp differences.
