cosmos II battery issue and warranty help

Hi

Ive had my cosmos for just over 6 weeks now but on the battery icon it has a red X through it and says the battery cannot be found. I have tried taking it out and in again but this doesn't resolve the issue. Is this likely to just be an issue with the battery? I have messaged Tech support around 2-3 weeks ago as I had an issue with the battery not charging and I followed the steps I was given a few times ( draining the battery then trying to recharge it) but to no avail.

I'm hoping that I wont need to send the laptop back as if it is replaced I will have lost software that has limited number of installs that I have maxed out. If i do need to send the entire laptop back will i need to pay to send it back? How much does this cost? I tried to upgrade the warranty to the silver warranty but i was told that I couldn't unless it was in the building/testing phase.

Any help is much appreciated as always

The good scenario: Your battery is dead. In 6 weeks? That's... the worst battery I've ever heard of. You need to pack it and send it to PCS and require a new one. It's unheard of and non-excusable that this happened.

The bad scenario: The laptop battery connector is broken so there's no battery detected. This means you have to send the whole laptop to PCS so they can fix it, but if this is the case, it usually means they have to replace the entire case, which means stripping everything out and putting it back in.

I hope it's the former and not the latter.

Alternative to check if it's a Windows issue (although I doubt it): Get a minimum 2GB USB, go to http://www.linuxmint.com/ and download any variant. Get LiLi (http://www.linuxliveusb.com/) and write the downloaded Linux to the USB. This will create a Linux Live bootable USB drive.

Restart and go to BIOS, make sure USB is set as the first boot option. Boot off your USB into Linux. See if the battery works there. If it doesn't, then you know it's not Windows.

No changes will be made to your computer this way (that's what the USB is from). Once you plug out the USB and restart, it'll be like it never happened. You are literally running Linux off your USB stick so no connection to your HDD.
