Cosmos XT - no longer available?

Hello!

I've been scratching around for options to replace my lappy. I quite liked the look of the Cosmos XT (discrete graphics, pretty thin and light), but it seems to have disappeared from sale. Anyone know if it's coming back or if there was an issue with them or something?

It was based on the older chipset so is now discontinued unfortunately.

Bit of a shame, that. Anyone offer any pointers for thin-and-light-ish 15-inch, discrete gpu laptop? Everything else on here seems to be 2.5kg!

We can only advise on PCS machines, the direct replacement being the cosmos vi 15"

I might be misremembering but I'm not sure the Cosmos XT was all that thin and light? It had a dGPU and a mobile CPU so was no ultrabook clone.

After a bit of digging I found:

OK, looks like it's a bit thicker than the Optimus, but that extra 400g would be very noticeable while travelling (which I do a lot). I'm probably going with one of the (much more expensive) HP's.

Yeah, the weight seems a pretty clear difference.

Note that laptops with the GT 1030 are starting to appear. The 1030 is actually not a bad little GPU if your demands are modest (I think it's supposed to be around the GTX 750 / 750 ti, so the 960M - better than what the XT had anyway) and should be particularly well suited to light and thin builds. I don't think there are any Clevo chassis with it yet but if price is more of a concern that urgency you could always hold off and keep an eye on your options.

Interesting. Unfortunately, as my current machine is (literally) falling apart, I think that the time pressure is likely to outweigh the financial side!
