Hi,
I have bought a desktop PC with the below spec from PC Specialist 12 years ago. I'm happy with the PC so far and it still works very well for my use cases, until recently. Last week Windows started with some emergency shutdowns due to CPU overheating. I installed a tool (Core Temp) to monitor the temperature and noted the temperature creeping to around 90 degrees Celsius (even without any applications running in Windows), at which point I have shut it down.
This has now gotten worse and the CPU overheats now even without launching Windows. Even when running fully idle in BIOS the CPU will overheat within around 30 seconds. I'm attaching a few pictures from my BIOS and from the cooling unit.
What I have tried so far is cleaning the inside of the case (which was very dusty) and tightening the screws of the cooling unit. I believe I have also deactivated all the overclock settings, these were never activated over the years. Neither helped.
Would you have any suggestions on how I could track down the cause of this overheating issue and debug it? Thanks!
