CPU temperatures whilst rendering

Need some help/advice..

After reading around a few threads about CPU temperatures and how when gaming you don't really want to be going above 85/90 - I was curious what temps I get when I am rendering an image in 4D (as i don't do any gaming but a lot of rendering) and was quite shocked when I saw it hit 90 within 2 seconds of clicking render - i assume based on what ive read that you don't really want to be hitting these type of temperatures for a long period of time?

Any advice on how to get it lower? - If not, will this kill the life of my CPU if I am constantly rendering at those settings?

Apologies if that's worded badly as I am not entirely sure what i'm on about :stupid:

Edit: The only setting i've changed since getting the laptop is setting the fans to 'Overclock'

That's definitely not right. Get yourself HWMonitor (free version) and see what your CPU and GPU are running at together. I wouldn't be surprised to see high temperatures during a 2 hour render but not after a matter of seconds. Definitely sounds like an incredibly poor paste job or a bent heatsink.

Have you checked your GPU temps also?

I'all get these results tomorrow if I have time and post them in here.

Really annoyed at all this after spending close to 2k :(
