Curious on whether my choices were the correct ones.

Hey guys.

I'm new to this whole building a decent PC m'larkey, hence I came to PCSpecialist to get it built for me :p

Ofc I only had the advice of a friend to go off of, and the stuff I knew (which is only a slither, mind you)

So, judge the build for me. I had a budget, but I think it made it work. I know nothing of bottle-necking and stuff like that, so just tell me how it is. I've been endlessly worrying that I've got incompatible parts, or that all I'll have to do is touch it and I'll do something wrong and it'll break.

I'm a graphic designer by trade so I need to be able to work from home efficiently, and I'm sure I'll have no problem. Still worries me that I've forgotten something important or that it, well, just wont all fit together! Maybe I worry too much.

Oh! And I'm fully aware that 4Gb GTX 970 is more of a.... 3.5Gb

Anyway;

Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4790k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache
InWIN GT1 BLACK GAMING CASE (because I'm cheap. reviews looked good, though.)
ASUS® Z97-P: ATX, LG1150, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs
16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X FURY DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 8GB)
4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 - 1 DVI, 1 mHDMI, 3 mDP - 3D Vision Ready
120GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
2TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD20EZRX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE
Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
CORSAIR 650W CS SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO (120mm) Fan CPU Cooler
2 x 12CM Black Case Fan (configured to extract from rear/roof)
ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps PCI-E CARD
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 4 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS

Cheers,
Emma

Hi Emma,

Welcome, it all looks good. I might have plumbed for the Caviar Black over the Green but it's not a huge difference. You would also get better performance and stability of connection using homeplugs rather than wireless. Very similar specs to mine, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply!

Sadly, at the moment wired internet would be a pain to set up and it's not really doable as the room that houses our router is in mid-destruction and I don't want the Ethernet cable sliced in half...

Also I think the Caviar Green came out a little cheaper, but I honestly don't remember! So long as they get the job done, right? ;)

Thanks for your views, it's refreshing to hear I actually made some good choices here! :)

Thanks for the response! Yeah I was pretty gutted that I didn't/couldn't fork out the little more for a larger SSD. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out in the future for price drops and such. :)
