i'd i'd rather be a northerner.....
but neway yeah virgin media sucks! you must pay like i dunno alot, but dont get that speed all of the time.

If its just by half then it may not the fair use policy, it may be something else, when the throttle comes in, its supposed to drop it by 75% not 50%.
To be honest on Steam lately I've been getting about 3 to 4MB/S when it can theoretically get to about 7.3 on my connection and using Speedtest shows my speed still at full speed
What and have one of those awful accents no thanks, virgin in fairness are very good in this area, I always get consistent 60mbps (7.7 * 8 = 61.6mbps) which is our package, and is only cut when its over the low fair use policy, my ping with my homeplugs is lower than 20ms too

well it was at about the right usage to be capped for the evening, although may have been steam slowing me down
EDIT: Speedtest is showing 30mbps so Im guessing its virgin media and by 50% not 75%

Im on standerd bt broadband and I just took a speed test, it says my ping is 20ms and i get 15mbps on wireless connection and yet the last time I downloaded something from steam my max was around 2mbps ... strange I hope fiberoptic broadband comes to my area soon
Remember that line speed as stated by the broadband providers and the measurement used by places like speedtest are measured in megabits(Mb), whereas Steam states the download in megabytes (MB), there are 8 bits to a byte, so for a 15Mbps connection, about 2MBps is correct.

And Virgin is a silly ISP. They often rake people in with their promise of high speeds, knowing that not everyone will either notice or take the time to look into the downfalls of their service.
Both of my sisters have had it and both were given a recycled number, having people who knew it previously ring them up asking for who owned that number prior to them.
One person rang one of my sisters, my sister answers and he's like "Who the hell is that, why have you got my mums phone?", very much fuming. My sister tried to explain that it's her number and whatnot and how she got it, but he was having none of it. I'm not sure if he realised how silly that sounded, as if she stole his mums phone, brought it home and somehow transferred the number along with it to her house.

Well BT have said in march time my town will be getting introduced to Fiber Optic so once i leave this rented room and get my flat in 2 years i should be able to get fiber optic. Just at that point the GF wants to move in aswell. So ill get fiber optic but then ill be made to watch tv with her .
