Defiance II not charging

I have a Defiance II (i6700HQ/980M) from December last year. Today the battery stopped charging. It shows as "3% available (plugged in, charging)" but it's not actually charging - it stays at 3% no matter how long it's plugged in. If I unplug it, the computer shuts down (but in a controlled manner - Windows does a shutdown - it doesn't instantly die like it would if the batter could provide no power at all).

Any ideas on how to narrow this down? It's probably a hardware failure... but it would be good to know if it's just battery or something more serious.

edit: I am looking at the battery report - it says that the battery discharged from 100% to 11% in 2 minutes and 20 seconds.

Extra question. I have a 1 year parts warranty on it, and it's been more than 1 year since I made the order, but less than 1 year since the laptop was actually built and shipped. Will I be able to claim the warranty?

I believe the warranty is 1 year from delivery date so I think you should be fine, but do note in section 7.6 of the warranty it states:
7.6 Laptop Batteries come with a maximum 6 month warranty, regardless of which warranty option is purchased.
So if its actually the battery at fault I don't think you would be covered, but if its something else that's causing said problem with the battery it may be, but I just don't know, I'd contact PCS to find out.

These sorts of problems are awkward to diagnose because it could be the charger or it could be the battery, but without a spare battery or a spare charger you can't really tell which! Actually it could also be the laptop itself, but again you'd need a spare battery and charger to prove that.

That does sound like the battery however. :)

I would call PCS and talk it over with them.
