Defiance Keyboard

Several keys on my new Defiance laptop (the P950HR model) are working intermittently. Sometimes I have to press the keys more than 5 times for them to register. Particularly troublesome are the 's' and '2' keys.

For example this is what I get when I type "She sells seashells on the seashore"

She ssells eahell on the seashore
he ell eahell on the seashore

I have practically excluded that it's a driver issue since when using a USB keyboard all the keys work fine.

Is there anything else I can try before reporting the problem to PCS?

You could try booting the Windows installation media and seeing whether the keys work ok on that WinPE system. If they do (which I doubt) you'll at least know the problem is with your Windows system. If they don't (which I suspect) you'll have to call PCS I'm afraid.
