Hey guys! First post on the forum, but basically I have a Defiance V (or IV? It's the one with a 970m in it.) and being two-three years old its time for a replacement. My "W" key sticks when gaming due to the high heat or some other problem, and the laptop regularly shuts off due to overheating, even after reapplying expensive thermal paste to the CPU (GPU temps are just fine).
My dilemma is this; it needs to be rather slim - this laptop will be used both for gaming but also for work. Therefore, I am gravitating towards the Vyper 3, or the new Defiance model. My concern is this: the Vyper's webcam placement is rather shocking, and I would need to buy an additional webcam. On the other hand, I am scared of the new Defiance laptop having the same heat issues as my current one. My budget is <2000 pounds, and I also want something that lasts 3-5 years with 2tb of storage.
One of the things which tempted me most about the Vyper however is that it was able to contain the 2070 SUPER, while the Defiance (in my budget range excluding the 2080 SUPER Max-Q) will only be able to hold a 2070 Max-Q. I don't know how these two match up and if the performance difference is significant enough to warrant suffering the terrible webcam placement?
