Desktop PC spec, looking for some advice

Hello everyone, I'm looking to get my partner a new PC.

She spends a lot of time on her current one, which is coal powered so I thought I'd bring her into the 21st century. She doesn't play games, but I do on occasion so I'm looking at something that's really fast when she's using it normally (mainly document writing) and can play the odd game but I don't need the graphics to be maxed.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be glad to hear them.

I would strongly suggest a better case. That case doesn't even has USB 3.0 ports at the front... Also it's not ideal for cooling, and if you will periodically upgrade the graphics card for gaming uses, you'll want better cooling. e.g. Inwin G7 if you want a case with a fairly plain look

You might be better off sourcing your own card reader too, either an external one or one that fits into a 5.25" bay with an adapter.

The PM961 SSD is quite a bit faster than the WD Blacks.

You could consider the i5 8400, which is more expensive but a lot more futureproof in terms of gaming, and much better for intensive uses like video editing, if you do any of that.
