Desktop Replacement Gaming Laptop

Hi All,

Looking to replace my aging, coughing desktop with a nice spiffy laptop that I can plug in to a screen and peripherals as well as take it out and about on day trip sand whatnot in the country. Chew a piece of straw, under a tree and stare wistfully in to the background my my wallpaper, etc.

Does this look suitable? Or abjectly absurd in any way? I will be installing Windows 7 Professional myself, and this suits my budget of £1200 thereabouts.

Are there any general concerns about the quality of the construction? Speakers? Any niggles or problems I should be aware of?

Not sure that you need two hybrid drives tbh would think a scorpio black would be just as good for the 2nd drive, make sure you grab the silver warranty if you've not done so already

I did include that warranty yes.

But I will take on board your feedback for the Scorpio.

Are you using RAID 0/1? If not, I'd personally go for the SSD + HDD set up.
The 120gb Intel 520 + 1GB WD Scorpio is actually cheaper than the hybrids.

For a relatively minor point, you might prefer to invest into a laptop bag instead of just the sleeve - I have a neoprene sleeve for my current laptop, and it doesn't add any protection at all. Unless you don't need that protection, I'd go for a bag.

What settings are you aiming to play your games at? A second 7970 would push the above build to around ~£1500, using the Vortex III as a base.
