DooM PC

I'm not a hardcore gamer by any stretch but I do like a good FPS.

Played through Doom and found it enjoyable.

But had to share my achievement of finishing on Ultra Nightmare. For those who haven't tried it...it is basically Nightmare mode with permadeath. When you die, your saved progress is deleted.

You can save and quit between levels and come back to it - where it says "Save and quit". Otherwise if you quit mid-game, it also deletes your progress.

My advice for anyone daft enough to have a go - play each level on Nightmware until you have it nailed before playing it through on Ultra.

It took me months of trying. I think the worst parts were where I fell off something and died. It felt so dumb :(

By the way..the Vulkan driver is MUCH more streamlined than the DX12 one.

On my Defiance II, I can comfortably ramp the detail up far higher and not lose performance when using Vulkan.

I ought to do some like-for-like benchmarks really

I've had nothing but bsods and corrupt save files under Vulcan.

In Doom? Heard there were profile corruption issues early on and did have one case myself where the game refused to continue and I had to start again.

Hmm. Hadnt tagged it to vulkan though. Interesting but honestly, I have no desire to go through the hell (see what i did there?) of UN mode again to test.

Hey Spyder. Just noticed you have a RAT 7 mouse. Me too. I bought it a few years ago when for some reason, they were massively discounted at my local PC World. Hate the place but occasionally handy for a rapid buy.

Then misplaced it. And found it again at the weekend in a spare laptop bag!

Most comfortable mouse I've ever owned. How'd you find yours?

Absolutely love it! Most precise and best feeling mouse I've ever had. Love the weight of it! I'd get another even though they're really old now.
