DPD Phishing scam

This is likely well known, but it's only just come to my attention so I thought it worth posting.

There was a very widespread phishing scam involving emails purporting to come from DPD in the run-up to Christmas and I've just heard from elsewhere that it's still going strong. See https://www.dpd.co.uk/content/about_dpd/phishing.jsp

Also be careful as I believe the scammers are doing this by text messages as well. Not just claiming to be DPD but various delivery companies.

Indeed. What worried me particularly is that since PCS use DPD and with lots of people having waited many weeks for their build, a scam DPD email/message might not get the careful attention it deserved in the excitement of a potential delivery....

Aye. The text message I had said something along the lines of “the company sending this package usually use DPD, but have enlisted the services of Parcelforce to help fulfill orders quickly. Please click ....”.

As technology advances, so do the number of scams as they make it easier for them. Having said that, there were still a lot of scammers etc around 20 years ago....I remember getting an email back in 2001 telling me I had won several million in an online lottery
It’s the various attack vectors.

Also Malware as a Service (MaaS), is now being used more and more, same with Ransomware as a Service (RaaS).

Where anyone can sign up to a Malware service with zero knowledge of coding or how to deliver it.

Lucifer is one such malware being offered to Cryptominers.

As said it’s been there for a while.

They also have customer services and tech support.

Woke up to a text from DPD about a delivery its way for tomorrow. Assumed it was a scam until I got one from PCS confirming they've accepted my RMA. Oops!
