Dual monitor query for a 4090

Hey guys,

Just had a thought that's come to mind with a PC build I wanted to go for, It would include 7800X3D and the RTX 4090.

I have currently pre-ordered the ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCDM which will be really great for it especially for gaming and its intended use.

But, for my desk I have a dual stand and would like a second monitor, the current one I use at the moment is a AOC Q27G2E (2560x1440 and 155hz) which I got last year on sale as a budget to go. But, would it be best for my PC (4090) to get the secondary monitor in 4k? I wouldn't be able to afford the PG32UCDM but something better that the AOC I have.

I know it may seem like a silly question but just was thinking about it haha, thank you so much

Either Superwide or 4k would be suitable for the GPU, otherwise you won't be utitlising the available power.

What's your mx budget for the monitor?

Yeah I have already pre-ordered the ASUS PG32UCDM, that was 1.3k, so that monitor would be perfect for the monitor, it was just if I must have the second monitor to be a top of range 4k also? If I do I think I would end up purchasing one (max £800) but would have to save aside and go for it in the winter

You can have anything as a second monitor. Second monitor requires no hardware acceleration as won’t be used in games (no such thing as 2 monitor gaming, it’s 1 or 3)

Resolution just fits what you want to display in the screen, ie 4k monitor is the equivalent of 4 x 1080p windows in each corner.
But standard 60hz is fine, anything over that won’t be used unless you have specific requirements.

Personally I prefer a 4k 60hz as my secondary just for the real estate
