Enigma 540 question

Hi Guys, first posting so please be gentle :)

Just ordered this laptop from you today, with the dual core i7 sandy bridge & 8gb ram looking forward to receiving it in due course.

Few quick questions please?

Ordered the dual core because I intend to game on dolphin emulator (only uses two cores anyway), any experience of running it on similar spec at all? and how does it perform, not bothered about max res, more importantly whether the games run smoothly or not

The main reason I bought it was to use Autocad 2011, as i'm an engineering student. Can I assume that the horsepower, gpu and extra ram will handle this program ok.

Having looked at my budget and my requirements I think I've made the right choice, so, once again, looking forward to receiving it and I'd welcome any responses to my questions above, cheers :)

The Enigma III 540 will be a great little work horse for you. In regards to the CPU, I don't have much experience in it but I think Autocad may benefit from a quad core CPU? Somebody with more experience with this type of software may be able to help a little more?

If your budget allows then you would definitely be better off going with a quad core. The new i7 quads can turbo much higher when only 1 or 2 cores are in use, so even though the initial clock speed is lower than a dual core, you actually wont be loosing out on any speed if all 4 cores aren't being used. Rendering in autocad will definitely benefit from as many cores as you can throw at it, although I am not sure if general use will be as heavily multithreaded. That said, a dual core i7 system certainly wont feel slow, so just get whatever your budget allows you to.

Hey! thanks for the replies, I switched to the 2720 qm, seems like the logical choice and all reviews recommend it over the dual core, nice one :)
