I am not going to lie I really haven't had much luck with this laptop after having to send it in for a motherboard replacement a few months after getting it and numerous calls regarding other issues...Now the laptop usb 2.0 ports have stopped working all together. I've literally tried everything, drivers/formatting windows (both for 7+8), scrolling the internet for hours...So I am assuming its the motherboard again. I spoke to someone and they said it would be just £35 to look at it, I cant even imagine how much it would be to repair :/. I really need the other usb ports working again, being a DJ and needing 2 main ports (hub doesnt work with audio interface i use and causes massive amounts of lag with trying to record/dj with a hub). I installed the usb 3 drivers and got the left hand side port working but that is all. I honestly cant afford to send it back...I know these things happen but I've had none stop bad luck with the laptop. I bought a desktop a good few years ago from PCS and had no real problems!

Anyway enough of the rant...best advice, any ideas on what I should do? :/

Regards,
Kyle

Hi Kyle, sorry to hear about your problems. As I understand it, you have reinstalled Windows and all the appropriate drivers and the USB2 ports still don't work. That really sounds like a hardware issue to me. I'm afraid your best option is to let PCS take a look at it.

One thing that concerns me is that you have had a motherboard fail on this laptop already and now it kind of sounds like it's failed again. I see that you're a DJ, do you use this laptop during shows? Is it plugged in to a bunch of other kit? I'm wondering whether the laptop problem is being caused by something that's plugged in during your shows? I know that there can be a lot of kit hooked up in all sorts of ways in public performances and it's quite possible that's the root cause of your laptop failures? It might be worth taking a good look at what you connect this laptop up to and whether everything you plug in performs to spec otherwise you may damage yet another motherboard. :)
