Hi all.

Just a quickie.
Is there any rules/limits on how many external drives you can connect to your PC?
I have spare USB slots, but just wondered if there was a limit down to your PC's capabilities.

Nah not really . Unless u plan to move em from pc to pc, id take them out of their casing and plug sata and power and put them in ur drive bays.

Reason: Bottleneck @ usb 2.0 and wear and tear on the controller. All instructions have to be translated from SATA to USB and travel down cable, back to SATA and vica versa upstream and downstream. All this slows data transfer.

Basically because there are only 26 applicable drive letters (A through to Z), lol. Though naturally if you have 2 drives and you span or stripe it'll only take up a single drive letter.

Oh ye, no theres a way round that, I remember reading about it somewhere. I thought you meant a restriction in the OS, althought that is a restriction, it is possible to bypass it.
