External SSD to External HDD mirror files.

I am hoping someone can help me with an enquiry regarding mirroring external hard drives. I have my PC Specialist Desktop with an internal SSD "C" Drive and also an internal HDD "D" Drive. I would also like to have an external 2/12 inch Crucial SSD Drive for data I need to take with me when away from home, and would also like to be able to mirror that drive to an external Seagate HDD is this possible? I look forward to any replies, regards, Mike

You can easily copy and paste data files to an external drive, but applications/programs wouldn't work that way.

Thank you both for your replies, but I think I may have confused you with what I want to do, at present I have two external HDD's an "F" Drive and "G" Drive, my PC has an internal SSD, "C" Drive on which I have all my programmes (software), all my data and image files are written to the external "F" Drive and I have for many years used Synchback SE to mirror my "F" Drive and its contents to the "G" Drive each day after I finish my work. What I wish to do is purchase a Crucial 2/12 inch SSD and use that as my external "F" Drive and then have an HDD as my "G" Drive to mirror my data and image files to each day at the end of work. My reason for wanting an SSD Drive as my primary storage external Drive, is that seeing the incredible difference the internal SSD has made to the speed of loading of my programmes I hoped that I could have the same speed in working with my data files and images by using an SSD as opposed to an HDD as at present. But of course am unsure if using an SSD and HDD externally as I have described will be possible. Again thanks to you both for replying, and also apologies for not making myself clearer in the original question, regards Mike

So why not keep using SyncBack SE? That's what I use for running scheduled unattended backups of my critical data. SyncBack works just as well with SSDs as it does with HDDs, so swapping your F: drive (currently HDD) for an SSD would make no difference to any of your software and certainly no difference to SyncBack.

Also just to note, unless you use a e-sata connection (I am assuming is the relevant connectoin) USB3 enclosures will not allow your external SSD to run at it's max read/right speed as you will have a bottleneck from the capacity of USB.

Overall I do not believe external SSD's are as good as internal ones and will not give you a big enough increase in performance for the cost of having it in the first place.
