Fan Controller

I'm pretty much set on getting the Fractal Define R4 case - I've tried looking for alternatives but I just know if I go for anything else I'll always view it as not being the one I really liked the look of. As has been mentioned elsewhere before, it being a sound dampened case, it's ventilation isn't as good as a pure gaming example.

My initial plan was to get the Nzxt Sentry 2 fan controller with the accompanying extra fans then I would have options when it came to cooling (..and the summer when my room can go from it's comfortable 21 degrees to a distinctly uncomfortable 30...). Looking at the reviews on the Sentry 2 I have some concerns about how the temperature probes are secured: Adhesive tape which apparently isn't all that good, so you run the risk having inaccurate readings due to your probes slipping their moorings.

Plan B would be to order a couple of extra case fans, if my thinking is correct I should be able to make adjustments to them through the Fan Expert software that comes with the Asus motherboard. If I went with this plan, I'd also want to know the feasibility of PCS positioning the fans so I had a positive air pressure set-up (I have a room that attracts dust.)

My questions are:

1: Has anyone had any experience of the Sentry 2 fan controller? Is the adhesive tape as bad as they say or do PCS use a better quality tape when fitting it? (To be honest I don't like the idea of tape being used as a permanent solution to anything, even though I was a fan of Macgyver...)

2: The Define R4 has a fan controller of its own that supports 3 fans; the case only comes with two - if I went with plan B and ordered the 2 extra case fans would one of those fans be connected to the case fan controller or would they both be tied to the motherboard? (I would rather the latter - I intend to run the case fans at maximum speed if what the reviews say are true and there is really little difference in the noise levels at each setting. (I doubt the extra fitted fans would have the same acoustic qualities.)

1- I have the same fan controller, very good quality no issues with the sensors. I hardly use it and my room gets hot as well but as long as you have a decent case I don't think that merits getting a fan controller or more chassis fans.
2- if it can fit only 3 fans and you add more then it may be connected to the motherboard or directly to the PSU.

Thanks for the reply - I think I'll probably get the fan controller just for my peace of mind if nothing else. I've always liked the Define case not just because of it's noise dampening qualities but from an aesthetic stand point - I do find the lack of direct airflow to the front fan a little disconcerting though and I don't fancy having to leave the case door open all the time, so I'll relax at little better knowing I've got some extra airflow there.

personally, i find the temparature sensors a bit of a gimmick really. I don't see the need to to have them at all. Plus it adds extra cables inside your rig.

I've got a simple lamptron fan controller that controls the fan speeds. Does everything I need it to do. Worth checking out - http://www.lamptron.com/

Also with fan controllers, make sure there is enough wattage per channel for at least two fans. Say more than 20w's.

That sounds promising, I must admit if I was actually being paid to build a PC for someone I wouldn't be securing stuff with sticky tape... Unless it was particularly awesome sticky tape.
