Fan Speed through Octane Control Center

Hey Everyone,

Recently got my Octane III delivered, GTX1080, 6700k, it's a beast and I'm loving it.
I've got a question regarding fan speed and how "safe" it is to keep the fans overclocked. Let's say I'm playing The Witcher 3, fans are set on automatic, my GPU temperature will be somewhere around 86-89 Celsius.
If I overclock the fans, it will go down to 76-78 Celsius. I don't mind the noise it makes because I'm playing with headphones, however I would like to know if this will influence the lifespan of the fans and wear them out a lot quicker.
Finally what do you guys think about 86-89 temperatures on the GTX1080, I've read online that the Pascal normal temps are ~82 on load.
Should I keep the fans overclocked or sit at 86-89 and not worry about it?

Thank you!!!

Max temps of GPUs are over 100 C (usually 105+ C). You can check the Pascal spec sheet by Nvidia for more details. You can't harm it either way as the GPU will downclock and throttle if it reaches unacceptably high temps. Re: fans, yes of course you are reducing their lifespan by running higher rpms. In practice it would take years of constant use to wear them out so it isn't much of an issue. I would cap my frame rate to a specific number within game settings as beyond 60 fps, it is usually not necessary unless you play fps games.
